Marketing Systems Essentials
Your marketing system is a series of activities that occurs in order for a sale to take place.
In this stage of the follow-up system, your focus is turning leads (qualified buyers) into
prospects (qualified buyers who are considering buying from you).
|
The system is comprised of 4 types of activities:
- Communication Channels
- Hot Buttons
- Calls to Action
- Integration to Sales System
|
Like cylinders in an engine – all parts must be in sync for the system to work properly.
Let’s take a closer look at each component.
Communication Channels
Where are your prospects already looking for your services? Trade shows? Advertising? Referrals?
Big sales come from tapping the right channel for your industry. For example, an organization
that builds production machinery will attend trade shows for their leads. A CPA firm will foster
relationships with a financial planner to ensure referrals. And a car dealership relies on heavy
advertising to pack their show room. Each has their own unique way of developing leads.
Hot Buttons
Why do people buy? They’re motivated. Why are they motivated? Well, that’s their
“hot button.” People buy for many reasons – to solve a problem, save time and
money, increase their status – the list goes on and on. Once you know “why” you
can help them buy. For example, many people get irritated if they need to wait all day for a
service repair. If your company guaranteed to be on time, would that help set you apart from your
competition?
Calls to Action
Imagine receiving a take-out menu without a phone number. Silly right? Still many times, marketing
materials lack a clear next step and then we wonder why it didn’t work. What do you want
people to do? Visit your website? Call for more information? Schedule an appointment? By providing
a clear and actionable next step you will be paving the road for your prospect to travel.
